Resumen
En el siglo XIX, en los Estados Unidos, surgieron una serie de normas conocidas como leyes de feos, que afectaron a grupos sociales en específico, juzgándolos por sus capacidades físicas, mentales, económicas e incluso de procedencia. Lo anterior dio lugar a una serie de sanciones para quienes se exhibieran en público y no cumplieran con los estándares de belleza de la época. Dichas leyes estuvieron en vigor hasta el siglo XX, cuando los movimientos por los derechos civiles en los Estados Unidos lograron un reconocimiento a estos grupos y la aprobación de leyes proteccionistas. Summary: Along the 19th century, in the United States, there were some legislations known as ugly laws, which affected specific social groups, being judged by their physical, mental, economic and origin capacities. Abstract
In the 19th century, a number of norms have been established in the United States and have been known as ugly laws that have affected specific social groups and have been judged by their physical, mental, economic and even provenance capabilities. That gave rise to a number of sanctions for those who were shown in public and did not meet the beauty standards of the time. Those laws had been in force until the twentieth century, as civil rights movements in the United States achieved recognition and adoption of protectionist laws.
